Suzanne Vermeyen Belgian Cellist & Teacher
Suzanne Vermeyen was born in Brasschaat, near Antwerp (Belgium) where she
started studying music at an early age.
She studied cello, piano and voice and sang as a kid in the Royal Opera Choir.
At the age of 18 she started her professional studies at the Royal Brussels
Conservatory where she obtained her Bachelor Diploma.
She continued her studies at the music university of Lausanne (Switzerland) in the
class of Marcio Carneiro and afterwords with Justus Grimm in the Royal
Conservatory of Antwerp where she graduated in 2013 obtaining a master of
music with high distinction.
Suzanne took part in several master classes and had lessons with cellists such as
Gary Hoffmann, Miklos Pereny, Enrico Dindo, Lluis Claret, François Guye, David
Cohen, ...
Suzanne plays regularly in the Symphonic Orchestra of the Royal Opera House
"La Monnaie, de Munt" where she worked with conductors as Alain Altinoglu,
Kazuchi Ono, Adam Fisher, Philippe Herrewege, ...
She occasionally plays with other big national and international orchestras such
as the Flemish Opera, the ORLP, the Antwerp Symphonic, ...
Suzanne performs principally in chamber music ensembles. She is founder of the
Alcea String Quartet which became lately BL!NDMAN(strings).The quartet was
formed by the Danel quartet, the Debussy, the Alban Berg and the Artemis
Quartet. The Alcea Quartet is member of ProQuartet in Paris and received the
Vocatio scholarship.
She plays in the duo Vo'Cello, and regulary performs in recital with the pianist
Lokke Van der Ven and Abdel Rahman El Bacha.
Suzanne is member of the Bryggen String ensemble and the BOHO-strings.
