Antonio Capolupo, Italian Solo Clarinetist
He graduated with the highest honors at the Conservatory "G. Verdi" of Turin,
then He completed his studies at the Santa Cecilia National Academy of Rome
with the M° Alessandro Carbonare.
Winner of the solo clarinet position at the Brussels Opera House "La
Monnaie" Belgian National Opera, in the 2016 where currently He is the
principal clarinet; previously winner of the co-principal clarinet audition at the
Belgian National Orchestra in 2015 and at the Malmo Symphony Orchestra in
Sweden in 2014.
In January 2019 He made his debut as a soloist with the orchestra of La Monnaie
at the Bozar, Palais des Beaux-Arts of Bruxelles, playing for the world premiere of
a modern piece dedicated to him by the well known Spanish composer Mauricio
Sotelo, under the baton of the Maestro Alain Altinoglu.
He collaborated also with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam
under the leading of Maestro Daniele Gatti, Teatro Regio of Torino under the
leading of Maestro Gianandrea Noseda, Suisse Romande Orchestra of Geneva,
Bozen Haydn Symphony Orchestra, Opera of Toulon in France as soloist.
Winner of the following international competitions: 1st prize at the international
clarinet competition "Marco Fiorindo", 2nd prize international clarinet competition
“Saverio Mercadante”, 1st prize international clarinet competition city of Chieri,
2nd prize AudiMozart international music competition, 2nd prize international
clarinet competition “Giacomo Mensi”, 3rd prize international music competition
“Luigi Nono”, 1st prize European music competition city of Moncalieri, 2nd prize
international chamber music competition “Giulio Rospigliosi”, 4rt prize Cluj
international clarinet competition.
He performed in several important concert halls, both in Italy and abroad, such as
Carnegie Hall of New York, Wiener Saal Mozarteum of Salisburg, Bozar concert
hall of Brussels, Auditorium “Giovanni Agnelli” of Torino.
He gave masterclasses in Belgium, Italy and abroad in the Conservatories, most
important to mention are in China at the Central Conservatory of Beijing, and at
the Conservatory “Vincenzo Bellini” of Catania in Sicily.
He also has a relevant experience and regular activity in the chamber music,
most important contexts and associations which He collaborated with are the “
Unione Musicale” of Turin and “MITO settembre musica” of Milan and Turin. In
quality of soloist clarinet of his orchestra He performs regulary in the chamber
music season of La Monnaie theatre.
Antonio Capolupo is also a testimonial artist and collaborator of the clarinet
company Selmer Paris and Vandoren France.
